Cameron
Highlands 2 Days Tour ideal tour from Kuala Lumpur, if you
have couple of days to spend. A
refreshing retreat to Malaysia's premier hill resort,
famous for its Tea Plantations & much more.....
Cameron
Highlands is Malaysia's largest and best-known hill
resort. Discovered by, and named after William Cameron, a government
surveyor who, in 1885 explored the area by hacking a path
up through dense jungle and came across, "A fine
plateau shut in by mountains". At 1524m above sea
level the area enjoys a cool climate, with temperatures no
higher than 20°C and rarely falling below 10°C, a
welcome change to the generally oppressive heat and humidity
at sea level.
Nestling the borders of Pahang and
Perak provinces are the Cameron Highlands, Malaysia's most popular
hill station destination. It is actually an area of tremendous
natural beauty, encompassing tea farms, vegetable fields, flower
gardens and challenging hiking trails with rushing waterfalls. It
also finds tremendous favor with many budget travelers because of
its cool climate which is in stark contrast to the hot, humid
weather in most parts of the region.
Because of its cool climate, many
different crops can be grown in the area that could not be
ordinarily harvested in the country. These include carrots,
cabbages, strawberries, chili, durian, tea and even many types of
fresh flowers. Flowers, in particular, are a main attraction for
Malaysians and prior to many festivals including the Hindu
Deepavali, many come here to buy flowers and then resell them in
KL.
Malaysia also produces a fair amount of renowned teas, all of
which come from this area. This provides tourists a rare
opportunity to see the plantations and witness the actual picking
and processing. The tea plantations also provide an awe-inspiring
view as you go up the hill.
Kellie's
Castle,
This
amazing leftover from colonial times is set by a small river
about 30 KM South West of Ipoh. The castle referred to is
in fact an old unfinished mansion.
It was to be one in the mould of great colonial houses,
complete with Moorish-style windows & even a lift. A
wealthy British Plantation Owner, William Kellie Smith,
who lived in a splendid mansion in this area in the
early 19th century, commissioned the building of the
"Castle", which was to be the home
of his (as yet unborn) son. The house was never occupied, as he
died before the castle could be completed.

Words
cannot say how much we enjoyed our trip with you
Please
thank everyone involved including yourself.
February
2012. Two mature married couples from the UK.
Experienced travellers.
The
last week of a 5 week trip to Australia.
Having
been to KL before, we had a good idea of what we
wanted to revisit.
Tried
all over the internet to find a company in KL that
could provide our tailor made itinerary. We wanted 3
days in the Cameron Highlands and then a day in the
city.
Most
did not even reply.
Michael (MM Adventure owner) replied with an just
what we wanted and a price. This included pick up at
our Airport Hotel, All transport, entry fees, food
and accommodation, the only thing that you had to
pay for was personal expenditure and alcoholic
drinks.
A
company established for 18 years, I can only say the
trip was fantastic. We were lucky enough to have
Michael and Annie as guides, although on the KL city
part, another guide sat in for Annie. Their
knowledge of the Cameron Islands and the city was
unbelievable.
A
truly Malaysian experience, not westernised, just
pure Malaysia including the food, which Michael just
kept delivering in vast quantities. The hotel was
Malaysian, not tourist, but to a good western
standard.
Nothing
was too much for them, even walking out for milk in
the pouring rain.
I
would recommend this company to anyone wanting to
experience the true Malaysia. I cannot compliment
them too much.
Thank
you again, MM Adventures
