When
building the Genting Skyway, no expense were spared to
ensure the complete safety of the system. The 2 x 640KW
power of the main drive and the 54mm diameter solid cable
wire also makes it one of the most powerful and strongest
monocable gondola installation in the world. The entire
system with high-tech electronic equipment was built in
accordance with stringent Swiss regulations and it has a
double safety circuit completely independent and
absolutely fault safe.
The
foundation used for the pylons is of the "Hang-dug
Caisson" type. Each pylon is founded on four Caissons
measuring 1.2 meters in diameter, which are socketed down
to bedrock. The average depth of the Caissons is about 40
m (135 feet) and each group of four Caissons piles can
take a vertical load of 4,000 tonnes against the maximum
vertical load of 150 tonnes from the cable car system. The
Caissons method is about the safest and strongest
foundation in existence, designed specifically for hilly
terrain. Each pylon is accessible via rescue tracks on the
ground, whilst each gondola is equipped with radio
communication equipment from the stations.
The
Genting Skyway will not only further enhance the
international fame of Genting Highlands Resort but will
also place Malaysia as a famous location for one of the
most modern cable car system.

Batu Caves
|
Batu
Caves, first
discovered over 125 years ago, Batu Caves have never
ceased to attract visitors. Only 13km from Kuala Lumpur's
central business district and just outside the city
limits, these famous caverns are easily accessible. Formed
within the framework of an imposing limestone outcrop
about 400 million years ago, Batu Caves actually consists
of three main caves and several smaller ones. The best
known of these is Temple or Cathedral Cave.
Temple
Cave has a ceiling looming over 100 meters overhead and
features ornate Hindu shrines. To reach it, one has to
climb 272 steps, a feat performed by many Hindu
worshippers on the way to the caves to offer prayers to
their revered deities.

Upon
reaching the Highlands, if the
casino isn’t your game, then take the time off to enjoy the
attractions of the indoor and outdoor theme parks instead. Many
rides with descriptive names such as ‘Corkscrews’, ‘Euro
Express Roller’, ‘Turbo Drop’ and ‘Sky Venture’ are
available, giving you the ride of your life up in the air! The
Sky Venture simulates actual skydiving without the risks.
Meanwhile, you can also take a walk around the peak and enjoy
the crisp and cool mountain air.
On
the way to Genting Highlands we will stop at Batu Caves for
short visit and then proceed to Genting Highlands. Upon
reaching the Highlands, you can try you
luck at Blackjack, Keno, Roulette or a
host of other casino games.
If this is not
your cup of tea, then, take time off to
enjoy the numerous recreational facilities
at the indoor and the outdoor theme park.
