Mengkudur Tree (Tetrameles Nudiflora)

The Mengkudur three grows huge size with enormous spreading buttresses. It is a deciduous tree, and flowers when the crown is bare, between February to April. Hunters and forest gatherers use this tree as a "telephone" when separated from friends in the dense jungle. They will hit the any part of the tree, mostly its buttresses, using a stick which produces a powerful echo sound which can heard a way off.
